Mind Lab has been granted a significant HK$6.4 million in funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) for the 2023/24 Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) exercise. This grant will support the lab's project, "Towards Next-generation Artificial Auditory System with Brain-inspired Technologies," under the Collaborative Research Project Grant (CRPG) category. The RGC's competitive selection process, with a success rate of just 11.9% from 312 applications, highlights the innovative nature of Mind Lab's proposal. The project is spearheaded by Prof. Kay Chen TAN, Mind Lab's Principal Investigator, alongside an esteemed team of Co-Principal Investigators: Dr. WU Jibin (Mind Lab's Principal investigator, PolyU), Prof. MENG, Helen Mei-ling (CUHK), Prof. SO, Richard H Y (HKUST), Prof XU Dong (HKU), and Dr. LIU Yan (PolyU).
The Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) is dedicated to fostering multi-investigator, multi-disciplinary research projects, encouraging innovative and high-quality research collaborations across disciplines and institutions.
